Accessibility Statement

Statement prepared: November 2026 · Last reviewed: November 2026

This statement applies to the website trendfingers.com. It is about how usable this website is for people with disabilities - it is not a privacy notice, and it does not cover the client project sites and demos hosted under this domain, which are the responsibility of their owners.

1. The standard we aim for

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, W3C).

Being accurate about the law: WCAG 2.2 level AA is a mandatory requirement for UK public sector websites under the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018. We are a private company, so those regulations do not apply to us. What does apply is the Equality Act 2010, under which a service provider has an anticipatory duty to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not placed at a substantial disadvantage. We use WCAG 2.2 AA as the practical measure of whether we are meeting that duty, by choice rather than by statute.

2. Conformance status

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. "Partially conformant" means that most of the site meets the standard but some parts do not. We would rather publish an honest list of what fails than claim full conformance.

3. What works

4. Known problems

We are aware of the following, and we are working through them:

ProblemWCAG criterionStatus
Some secondary and muted text is set in a grey that does not reach the required 4.5:1 contrast ratio against the dark background. The small uppercase monospace text in page footers and section labels is the clearest example. 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum), AA Being fixed - the affected colour values are being raised
Parts of the site use a command-line visual style for labels. Where that style was used for form field labels, the label did not plainly describe what to enter. 2.4.6 Headings and Labels, AA · 3.3.2 Labels or Instructions, A Being fixed - form labels are being rewritten in plain language
Some decorative inline SVG graphics are not consistently hidden from assistive technology, so a screen reader may announce them. 1.1.1 Non-text Content, A Open
Focus indicators rely on the browser default in some components rather than a deliberate high-contrast style. 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured / 2.4.13 Focus Appearance, AA Open
Our enquiry form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3. It is invisible and needs no puzzle solving, but any risk-scoring system can wrongly reject a legitimate person. 1.1.1 Non-text Content, A (CAPTCHA) Mitigated - email is offered as an equivalent alternative, see section 6
Some older articles in our Signals archive were published with inconsistent heading levels and image alternatives. 1.1.1 Non-text Content, A · 1.3.1 Info and Relationships, A Being worked through

5. Third-party content

This site loads typefaces from Google Fonts and the reCAPTCHA widget from Google. We do not control the accessibility of those services, and we cannot fix defects inside them. Everything else on the site is ours.

6. If you cannot use part of this site

You do not have to use any form on this website to reach us. Email gabriel@trendfingers.com with whatever you wanted to send, in whatever format suits you, and you will get the same response as if you had used the form.

If you need information from this site in a different format - plain text, large print, or a document read aloud - ask and we will provide it.

7. Reporting a problem

If you find an accessibility barrier, tell us: accessibility@trendfingers.com. Please include the page address and what went wrong.

We aim to acknowledge within 5 working days and to tell you what we will do about it, and by when, within 20 working days.

8. Enforcement

If you are not happy with how we respond, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) can advise you on your rights under the Equality Act 2010: equalityadvisoryservice.com.

9. How we assessed this

This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out in November 2026, using manual keyboard and screen reader testing, automated checks and a review of the site's own colour tokens against the WCAG contrast formula. It has not been audited by an independent third party. We will say so clearly if that changes.

We review this statement at least once a year, and whenever the site changes substantially.
