1. Who we are
Trendfingers Ltd ("we", "our", "us") is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy covers the website trendfingers.com and our own business correspondence.
- Registered name
- Trendfingers Ltd
- Registered in
- England and Wales
- Company number
- 12786857
- Registered office
- 35 Goldfinch Drive, Sandy, Bedfordshire, SG19 2SA, United Kingdom
Two things this policy does not cover:
- Client systems. When we build or operate measurement infrastructure for a client, the client is the controller of the end-user data in it and we act as their processor. See Data Protection & GDPR, section 1.
- Client project sites and demos hosted under this domain, which carry their own notices.
2. What we collect
2.1 What you give us
The only place this website asks you for personal data is the enquiry form. It collects:
- your name;
- your email address;
- your company (optional);
- the message you write.
Submitting the form sends that information to us as an email. It is not written to a database, and this website has no user accounts, no login, no newsletter signup and no payment processing. If you email us directly instead, we hold whatever you choose to put in the email.
2.2 What is collected automatically
- Web server logs - your IP address, the page requested, the referring page, your user agent, and the date and time. Used for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.
- Analytics - Google Analytics 4 records which pages are viewed, how long for, roughly where in the world the visit came from, the device category and how you arrived. IP addresses are not stored by Google Analytics 4.
- Anti-spam signals - Google reCAPTCHA v3 examines how the form is interacted with in order to score how likely the submission is to be automated.
Every cookie involved is listed individually in our Cookie Policy.
3. What we use it for
- Reading and replying to your enquiry, and following up on it.
- Preparing a proposal and, if we work together, delivering the engagement.
- Meeting our legal and accounting obligations.
- Understanding which pages on this site are read, so we can write better ones.
- Keeping the site available and free of abuse.
We do not use your data for automated decision-making, we do not profile you for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
4. Our lawful bases
The lawful basis for each activity is set out in a table in Data Protection & GDPR, section 2. In short: contract and legitimate interests for enquiries and client work, consent for analytics cookies, and legal obligation for our accounting records.
5. Who else sees it
The complete list of third parties, what each one does and where it is based, is in Data Protection & GDPR, section 3. Summarised:
- Google - Analytics 4, reCAPTCHA, Fonts, and Gmail, which carries and stores our enquiry emails.
- Our hosting provider - serves this website and writes the server logs.
We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to professional advisers under a duty of confidence.
6. Transfers outside the UK
Some of those providers are based in or route data through the United States. The safeguards we rely on are set out in Data Protection & GDPR, section 4.
7. How long we keep it
Retention periods for each kind of record are in Data Protection & GDPR, section 5. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted 24 months after the last contact.
8. Security
We use transport encryption on this website and on our email, access control on a least-privilege basis, multi-factor authentication on the accounts that hold personal data, and we keep credentials outside the web root and outside version control.
9. Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, ask us to restrict it, ask for it in a portable form, or withdraw consent. Your rights and how to use them are set out in full in Data Protection & GDPR, section 6.
To exercise any of them, email privacy@trendfingers.com. We reply within one month, and it costs you nothing.
10. Children
This website is aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, write to privacy@trendfingers.com and we will delete it.
11. Complaints
Please come to us first at privacy@trendfingers.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
12. Changes to this policy
When our processing changes, we update this page and the date at the top of it.
